Pizza Work Work: E-WASTED.NET Food Week Episode 1Food
I (almost) successfully completed 10 weeks of vegan eating at the beginning of 2012. (There was one outlaw piece of pizza after the March 2 BRAIN VACATION show). The night I made it to 10 weeks I went out for another huge slice of pizza. I needed some quantity to offset all the quality I’d been ingesting.
Liz took this picture that night. She was in on the vegan trial too. It was initially supposed to just be 4 weeks but we kinda liked it and went for 10 so we could explore some more recipe ideas and really get comfortable in the “diet.” I lost like 15 pounds without trying and generally felt pretty energetic and healthy during the experiment. But by week 8 or so (about when I cracked and ate that first slice) I began to burn out on beans and the billion different forms of soy. Liz has decided to continue eating vegan indefinitely but “not forever.” I ate hot dogs for breakfast yesterday. I like the idea of doing this again, maybe the first ten weeks of every year or something. It felt good, I listened to a lot of Propagandhi, and I spent some quality time in Whole Foods. Seeya next year, tempeh.
