The TV is almost always on in many homes, a background of sorts. The names and details of the stories change, but the subjects and structure remain constant. Television and information become as decorative and trivial as the color you choose to paint your house.

Coverage as interior decorating: paint swatches. Literally, covering your walls. Coverage as news reporting: “All this and more at 11.”

These four color swatch portfolios double as short poems. Each line of each poem is the name of a color on the swatch cards. These names serve as both parody of the goofy names on commercial color swatches (“Aimless Cloud”) and as headlines from television news (“Homes Destroyed / Celebrities Displaced”).

The complete project includes four portfolios on four subjects: Pastel Black (disaster), Meat Red (politics), Dirt Green (the economy), and Light Blue (weather). Each was digitally offset printed in an edition of 100. The cards measure 4”x6”; the folders measure 5”x7” when closed.
